Dear Pearl River Community,

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Tina DeSa, Ed.D. as Interim Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for the Pearl River School District. Dr. DeSa brings a wealth of knowledge in educational leadership, a deep understanding of curriculum and instruction, and a strong commitment to supporting both students and educators.

Dr. DeSa began her career as a classroom teacher, dedicated to fostering academic excellence and inclusion for all learners. She has since held several key leadership roles including Principal of Nassau Elementary School in the Spackenkill Union Free School District, where she led instructional programs and school-based initiatives. Dr. DeSa later served as Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Personnel Services in the Arlington Central School District, overseeing special education, counseling and student support programs. Most recently, she held the role of Superintendent of Schools for the Pleasantville Union Free School District. Dr. DeSa holds a Doctor of Education and Professional Diploma in Instructional Leadership as well as a Master’s Degree in Sociology from St. John’s University. She also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Manhattan College and is a NYS permanently certified Elementary Teacher and School District Administrator.

Throughout her career, Dr. DeSa has been widely recognized for her collaborative approach, data-informed decision-making, and ability to build strong, trusting relationships with staff, students and families. Her professional strengths include curriculum development, instructional leadership, strategic planning and special education - all of which align with our District’s mission and values.

We are confident that Dr. DeSa’s experience and leadership will strengthen our instructional programs and continue to move the District forward in its pursuit of educational excellence.
